Goldtone Mandocello

I am selling my Goldtone Mandocello. It has seen less use than i hoped it would, and i have way too many instruments to justify it taking the space i dont have. That being said, its a cool instrument. I am sure most of you have read the reviews here on the cafe. Here’s my take on it, It plays well, as in action is decent. Acoustically you can hear it, but it will not keep up with Martin acoustics and Gibson banjos at a blue grass jam. However, this instrument shines when plugged in. I use a Schertler Roy. The mandocello has two knobs, a volume and a blend. The neck pickup is very warm, or lets say jazzy, not a lot of highs. The saddle pick up is very bright by itself. But if you blend in a touch of the saddle to the neck, you get a very full sounding instrument. Crisp and clear. My amp can handle the lows and it shakes the house. I connected a sub to the amp once and it was tremendous.

That being said, if you never played a scale of this size, there is a little learning curve, but its not rocket science.

When I purchased the instrument i bought two sets of replacement strings from goldtone. I put one set on right away and it made an improvement. Sadly i let someone tune it one day and they over tightened one of the “A” strings and it snapped. After scolding them, I quickly took it back. Anyway, i have the second set minus one “A” string that i will include. Comes with the Goldtone hardshell fitted case.

Asking $550 plus shipping, and will make the donation to the cafe upon sale. If you live in Virginia and want to try it out plugged in, just give me a shout. The instrument and case weigh a few pounds, but once I have your zip code i can calculate the shipping method you prefer. Will send pics on request.

Thanks!
