    Default NMD Collings MT

New to me, a Collings MT now in my possession, praise the Lord!

I started 2 years or so ago with a little bowlback followed by pressed top Ibanez followed by carved Washburn followed by Eastman 315 - and now, due to some good fortune and a good friend and fellow musician, I have this Collings.

I love the clear woody tone, the larger frets, the lighter feel, the nice looks and - so much about this mandolin.

Came with L. R. Baggs pickup lightly installed (putty style), comfortable and pretty armrest, braided black leather strap and original Collings HSC.

Now, if I can just learn to play better. I'm really excited about the upgrade.

Fair enough! I was going to wait until I change strings and clean it up a bit (Danny uses the same strings I prefer, and had just changed strings), but here's my new baby:

Yeah, that's a little more difficult for me than scoring a mandolin!

Congrats! I thought I was an oval hole guy before I bought an MT. It has now become the benchmark in terms of playability for any mandolin I consider.

The thing about the MT level is that it buys you 93.5% of what you get with a $10,000 instrument. For most of us that will forestall MAS for a while. Enjoy.
