Anyone in the Evanston/Northside of Chicago/Near North Suburbs area getting together to play? And would welcome a relative newcomer? Just started playing last November, and feel the itch to play with others. I know about the Session at Nevin's, but that's not what I am looking for.

There is a group of people who meet at the Atlantic Bar and Grill at 5062 North Lincoln Ave in Chicago @ 5;30PM. Their next meeting is Sunday May 10th and the next after that is June 14th. I went once to support my brother who plays banjo a little. Spencer is the guy who sort of runs it. He is a great banjo player. They were open to anyone who wanted to play.

What kind of music are you wanting to play? There's a lot of stuff going on up there. Check with the Old Town School. Tom (McIrish has heads up on one, although I don't know what that jam is about. If they allow a banjo player, well then it sounds like a fun place.)

There's a session at the Celtic Knot on Tuesday nights. It's welcoming and wide-open stylistically but will include a lot of Irish tunes.
