    Default Fylde Single Malt mandolin.

You don't see these come up for sale often. (eBay.co.uk) and only 12 months old, "Beautiful".

One of these came up recently and was withdrawn from sale before the end of auction; is this the same one relisted?

Very possibly; I just remember admiring it greatly at the time! Was it really so long ago??? Time is certainly flying...

This one got away. Unfortunately the winning bid had gone beyond my pain threshold. Good luck to the player who was willing to invest that little bit more than me. What a beautiful mandolin!

I always think the second hand value should be around 2/3 of the new price. This went a little over that figure but still a nice instrument for the price especially if it is as the seller says (Like new).

I did bid, but stopped short of four figures… I reckon the price was high for a second-hand model; maybe worth it given the condition but I’d nearly rather pay the extra and go for a new one. I’ll maybe get one some day… if nothing else comes up first…

Inspired by looking at the Fylde pictures, I decided that my next mandolin will be a Touchstone Walnut (not Single Malt after all). Luckily, when I contacted Fylde, they were just about to finish one. It arrived yesterday!

    ...

And now I'm not allowed to touch it for months because my wife insists that it will be a present for my 40th birthday.

Wise choice, Dennis, and you'll have to wait now - you can't win against such highly organized management

Played one of these from Fylde's display at Ullapool Guitar Festival (Scottish Highlands).

    Fatal! I now own it.

Time to celebrate with a single malt, I think.
