Daryl - these are made in China, and I think they started a few years ago? There are quite a few fans of these KM900 on here (myself included). The photo shows an earlier model when they had a lighter color finish on it. Nowadays they all came in a darker sunburst finish.
I have owned 3-4 of these in the past few years. All excellent (esp. considering the price). I had one of the earlier ones and it's got a fantastic looking back and the top is triple bound. Probably should have kept it.
Wow the photo size is out of control... my apologies.
Also, DonG had an excellent review on here a little while ago that I thought was a very good read:

There is also now a KM-950 model. It's basically the same as a KM900, but with a radiused board and a scooped florida.
thanks Clement
the larger picture is fine, i actually prefer that size.
i'm not in the market, but there was something very pleasing when i opened that classified listing-thought i'd post it to see the thoughts of those who have owned one, just in case down the road i became interested.
thanks for the review link

There are several KM900 owners on here, including F5loar ( i believe ?), who consider them to be one of the finest "A" styles on the market regardless of price. They're styled after the only known Gibson Lloyd Loar "A" style & many think that they have a lot of the tone of that famous instrument = great mandolins at a very good price for such quality,

Weber F-5 'Fern'.
Lebeda F-5 "Special".
Stelling Bellflower BANJO
Tokai - 'Tele-alike'.
Ellis DeLuxe "A" style.
I own one of the early models and it is a great mandolin, mine does not have a pick guard though, I wonder if the one in the picture has been added after making the purchase?
Willie
That is a very nice picture, but the color is not what is standard on the mando now, isn't it time for an updated picture of current color? (Just saying if you fall in love with that finish color, you ain't gettin' that color anymore)
