Default Big thanks for the advice/which polish to use.

Hi people, massive thanks to everyone who advised me on what to get for my first mandolin. I ended up buying an Eastman MD315 from classifieds on here and i love her just wondering what type of polish i should use on her? Its got an antique satin finish not a gloss, thanks again guys.

Well .... by and large I don't use polish. I clean my instruments with a clean damp cloth and then buff them with a clean dry cloth. I bought a bundle of inexpensive white washcloths , laundered them once to get the heavy bleach out of them, and have been using them for years....... R/

It's not wise to do much polishing on a satin finish because you'll be making it glossy.

Yeah, I have that same finish on my Eastman and I like it too.

I agree with the other posts. I do the same as U.P. above. Don't use a polish. Just a dry soft cloth or better yet microfiber cloth.

Maybe once or twice a year you may need to use a dampened soft cloth for spots of stuck on stuff and then go behind with a dry one.

I did something similar with new and never-soiled cloth diapers...a couple of washings to remove any fibers and get the material soft. +1 for the damp cloth/dry cloth, er diaper method...
