Default just home from the NickelCreek concert in Nashville

    amazing concert!

the trio are in tiptop shape-played old and new mix, the crowd at the Ryman went wild pretty much for the whole concert.

if you get a chance, don't miss this one!

and yes, the mandolin and bouzouki sounded great in Thiles hands.

took in the Johnny Cash Museum while there-another destination spot for any music fan

Daryl - glad to hear it was a good concert. And not to get the discussion off track but did you also get a chance to stop at any of the Nashville's finest music stores and check things out?

Thanks. Was wondering if no one on here had seen them. My son and I have tickets tomorrow night in Savannah.

I understand that Mark Schatz left Claire Lynch's band to play bass with Nickel Creek (again). I saw the Claire Lynch Band last weekend here in Clearwater, FL and their "new" bass player is Todd Philips filling in for Mark. During the meet and greet after the concert I got to chat with Todd who joked that he hoped Mark would stay with NC for a while. I guess Todd was enjoying his new gig with Claire's current band (who were all excellent btw). Sorry, no hijack intended. Mark Schatz is the bassist for Nickel Creek.

Don't worry mate it happens to me quite frequently. Mostly because I'm not sure that the site has taken the post, so I hit send again duh

Would love to see them live but have to rely on their CD's instead. Lucky you to hear and see them live. Pleased that you loved the occasion and had a good time even visiting one of my heroes museum Johnny Cash, the legend!

i cannot recall the name of the bass player-tallish large built man. he did some flatfoot while playing and at the end, left the bass standing alone and did some real fancy footwork for the crowd.

just an all around swell concert folks-they played old and new songs.

there was the initial plan to do that- Gruhns/Artisans/Cotten Music. but, it was our wedding anniversary trip, and i had just procurred a very cool wide nut weber (#7 of the original Black Ice series of 10, from 2010) via Dennis/Brian at TMS about 2 weeks prior our trip, so i really spent time with the wife doing fun things and not visiting instrument shops. really didn't have the desire, the Weber is everything i hoped it would be and more-its killer.

lots to do in Nashville and we were limited on time.

    Daryl,
Glad to hear you settled on the Weber. Your search was extended. Congrats.

Nickel Creek is playing with Sarah Jarosz at Austin City Limits-Live on August 23...tickets START at $89 in the 7th balcony. Saw Sarah at Old Settlers along with lots else for less, up close. Would love to see them together, but will probably pass at the price.
