i'm a little different on this.. when playing the guitar, proper picking technique is to use as little of pick as possible.. not using the entire tip, but rather just enough to "pluck" the string.....
it dont make a darn to me.. i tend to use as least amount of pick as possible.. same as guitfiddle.. just the little pointy end of it... not all flappy sounding that way..
