I would really consider selling your Gibson and purchasing an instrument with a wider nut, say 1 1/8" before you go adding to the neck and destroying the instruments resale value. Just a thought....
Attended a Matt Flinner show last evening and it was absolutely awesome.
The trio, Matt Flinner, Ross Martin and Eric Thorin performed in a local, very intimate Cafe here in the Hudson Valley of...
I own and play both, no real difference for me!:)
I agree with many and believe you really just have to play and choose the mandolin you enjoy playing, flat or radiused board. Some will notice and...
I owned an A6 for quite a few years but traded it for an Ellis A because of the narrow nut width (1 1/16"), but it was an excellent instrument, great tone and volume! No regrets, the Ellis is a...
I agree with Larry, sounds like a real "no brainer" to me. Rob
Well folks , as much as most of us would not like to admit it..........
We all know fiddle is KING in most any traditional music genre.
I don't play fiddle but have flirted with the idea of...

I know Bob Givens used to sometimes write stuff on the underside of his mandolin tops.
I owned an 1986 A6 built by Bob with a sentence scribbled in pencil, but could never quite...

CF Martin made in the past A style flat tops mandolin using Koa for tops, backs and sides. I owned one built in 1926 some time ago and what a sweet sounding mandolin! I know they made guitars also in...
Rob,
I own a 13 7/8 " scale Lyon and Healy "C" and her serial number is 583 and like yours, in black ink stamped inside the instrument just below the neck block is the number 583. Guess I just...

Can anyone tell me when Gibson began using arrowhead tuners on their mandos and for how long?

I've searched previous threads and found no info so here is my question.
Can anyone give me a short history of the Gibson model A2Z?
What makes it different and unique from other Gibson A models?...
