The Battle-Cry of Munster -Piaras Mac Gearailt. Played on a Beard Zouk - GGDDAAEE - In a Munster Rugby shirt...
That's some fast picking, Eddie.
Like that tune Eddie! Thanks...
Somehow reminds me of Come out Ye Black and Tans. I guess it's that Irish combination of poetry + battery again.
Hmm... first song i thought of was Paddys Lamentation and having never before stomached much of 'Come Out You Black and Tans' for too long, i had to check it out. Apart from speed issues they are similar enough, no? Seems they both might be based on this tune?
love that Beard bouzouki, Eddie - sounds great!
I guess most "ballads" are based on older tunes. The Chieftans do a nice version on "Farther Down the Old Plank Road". Piaras Mac Gearailt wrote it in the 1700's - predating the "Tans". Can also be played as a slow air but it loses its adrenalin.
