Default My last days on earth...tabs? Songs with a similar feel

Whilst listening to Bluegrass Junction this morning I discovered Bill Monroe's "My Last Days on Earth." (I know I'm way behind the power curve on this one). Of course I then looked all over the net for tabs, to no avail. Do any of you know a good place to find tabs for this song.

Also, this song has exactly the type of feel I love and would like to learn, sounds like a final tune in an old western. Do any of ya'll know of more mandolin songs with this somber/dark/old west/ghostly kinda feel?

    Thank you for your guidance!

You'll find it in the tabledit files section on the Mandozine web site.

....and make note of the cross tuning. It's part of what gives it that haunting, ghostly kind of feeling.

Andy Statman's "Flatbush Waltz" is a tune that comes to mind.

If you have the time and patience you can learn it on a you tube video by B.M. Not the best example but " Wayfaring Stranger " has a similar feel although Bill's is even more solemn. He's past his prime when he did this but there's no mistaking who is doing it.. And the video shows enough of his hand movements to get most of it. He just makes it look so easy..until you try to follow him.

Interesting. I love that tune. For me it evokes Eastern European origins. I never would have thought somber/dark/old west/ghostly. I do love the tune.

Well, I'm not really hearing the "western" on "My Last Days On Earth", either, but to me they both have a haunting, cinematic feel. It's a vague connection...

It also features in the Monroe (Vol 2) DVD with Sam Bush dissecting it. It is actually not hard to play. Helps if you have seagulls and a choir on hand too, of course.
