    Default pick-up

Is there an electric pick-up which plugs into the rear of a standard mandolin. If yes, which are the best?

    Rear? Nope. none.

for Violin, some contact pickups use the back ,
but the soundpost is directly connected to and supporting the Bridge.

Equipment section has hundreds of Q&A about pickups,
I suggest scrolling back through the archived posts..

Best, is as usual, an opinion, argued, endlessly.

how high is your stack of Ben Franklin C-notes?
    writing about music
    is like dancing,

If I'm understanding your question take a look at the K&K pickups, they are sweet and the best bang for your buck IMHO...
Never Argue with an Idiot, they will just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
