Here it is, my new (and first) mandolin! I´m loving it.

Since I can´t find a newbies presentation sub-forum, I´ll use this one to say -Hello!- to everybody. My name is Jorge (George) and I´m from Spain, so, sorry for my poor english writing...

I´m loving the cafe, the BIG amounth of info I´m finding here, and overall the nice and friendly guys around here.

Now I´m leaving to pick my mandolin, and my neighbours nerves as well...

Some say the 600 is better than the 700 because of the tone bar bracing being more "Loar like". It's sure got that dark '24 cremona Loar shading on it. Can you post a photo of the back? Some of these have beautifully grained backs.

The 600 and 700 ARE waaaaayyyyyyyy different in terms of sound. The 600 is the more trad BG axe, to be sure. It's a beautiful piece of work for the money, or twice the money quite often. The 700 certainly is not hurting for the lack of TB's. Mine sounded just excellent, and played really smoothly. It was a great instrument. The tone was more modern and more flexible in many ways. It was NOT a BG instrument like the 600, though. It could certainly do that tone, but was capable of so much more.

Enjoy your 600 and play the strings off it. That's a GREAT first purchase and will last you a good long time, or until MAS sets in.

Thanks every body for your kind words.

I know it´s kind of "too good" for a first mandolin, just to see if I like it. But I play some other instruments, and I have found, the better they sound (unplugged) the more I play them. So nowadays, whenever I decide to invest in something new, I prefer to wait untill I have money enough for a nice one. That´s what I did when I bought my banjo, and I´m really happy with it. I also own 4 low end ukes I never remember to play...
