I just put a set on my Weber Vintage A and they sound OK. I find most strings take a week of playing before they settle in. Give them a few more days.

A few hours seems to do it. Have patience as they last a long time once they are broken in.

Maybe I don't play enough. Mine were 7-10 days of crazy "harpscicord" sounding brashness till they calmed down. I put em on about 4 months ago. Still playin em.

they seem to me to be not as slick or kinda of a satin feel compared to the old monels. I just thought id try a set but i dont think anythink sounds as woody as GHS silk and bronze

I hope they haven't changed the alloy. I have sung the praises of monel on this site for years, but I am still working on a box I bought years ago - they are Gibson monel but no Sam Bush name on them. They last so long I should be good for a few years!

To the best of my knowledge, they are the same set of strings. Sam used them for years before Gibson approached him about endorsing them.

...i also wish some folks would be kind enough to save and send some of their string labels and string boxes my way so i can finish off this dang wallpapering project before i'm too old and rickety to get up on a step stool!

post requesting string labels found here:
