mp3 links download as HTML

When I try to listen to mp3 links embedded in threads on my mac they download as html text files?

when I listen to them on the pc at work they get automatically opened by media player.

help/thoughts/ideas?

Don't use Safari.

Download Firefox (get 3, not the Beta 4 yet) or Chrome and it will act like it should.

Something about your setup is not right. An mp3 should trigger a plug-in in your browser. On my Mac with Firefox, it's a QuickTime plugin. Depending on your browser, you may need to install or update the plug-in, or just set your preferences to use that for mp3 files.

If all that doesn't work, Ctrl-Click (not Cmd-Click like usual) and select "Download file" from the menu. It will play in iTunes or any media player you've got. Not ideal, but you can listen to the music.

Just remove the .html extension and the mp3s will play fine.
