I recently learned my first Cajun fiddle tune on mando ... lots of high energy fiddlin' to mimic ... I've just transcribed this tune Reel de Joie in TablEdit and submitted it yesterday to MandoZine ... (If you're relatively new to playing the mandolin, you may not yet know that TablEdit displays/plays music files in tab, notation and midi, allowing you to play along with it at your own speed ... you'll need to have the free TEFView viewer to use the file)

    Enjoy ...

    Keepin' tuned ...

Niles also did the transcriptions for a tape series by Mike Doucet. In addition to practicing music (not TAB) reading, I find it helps me to concentrate on making music rather just running licks.
Very much worth seeking out the series.
