Thread: Mayflower bowlback bridge

    Default Mayflower bowlback bridge

Hey, I just got an old Mandolin off of Ebay and I'm fairly sure it's a Mayflower from the early 1900s - I posted pictures in another thread - anyway, it doesn't have a bridge. How different are Mayflower bridges than modern ones? Should it be a lot smaller? Thanks!

Take a look at the fifth and sixth bridges on t h i s p a g e from Elderly. They are for flat top mandolins. They no doubt are not true to the design of the original, but they will probably work.
David Hynds makes repro bridges for many old flat tops and bowl backs. See his page about bridges h e r e.
