Hi all,
I've been playing mandolin and octave mandolin for about 2.5 years now. All of my instruction has come from the internet (thank you Mandolin Cafe!). However, I really want a live human teacher to take me to the next level.
The problem? There are no mandolin teachers in my city (a small town about 45 minutes west of Jerusalem, Israel).
I tried to get a fiddle teacher. I figured that the left hand skills are comparable. However, that didn't work out. Not becase of the incompatible instruments, but because his wife had twins, and he has no time to give lessons.
So now I have a guitar teacher. I figure that the right hand skills are comparable. He is teaching me music theory (which applies to all instruments) and rhythm (which applies to the right hand).
However, he is no mandolin teacher!
So what do you guys think? How can I make the most out of this less-than-ideal situation?
Thanks,
Huda
