Who’s making a nice case that an old A model Gibson will fit in? Will the Collings vintage case work?

Seems I read that the Collings case will NOT work for the short neck Gibsons. Older TKL cases work, and some cheaper new ones I have found to work, but it's nice to try them first.

If you can find one, the Eastman Fiberglass cases work well. The Bobelock fiberglass cases are nicer, and the "A" fits in it equally well.

A 5 or the A 0 / 1 thru 4? It appears the redesigned Eastman FG was made to fit F5 & F4, and by extension short & long neck A 4 & 5.
I have the discontinued A5 only FG Eastman for my 'plastic' Mix mandolin.. backpack sreaps are great ..

I believe that the Guardian CG-020-MA will fit Gibson oval hole A models. Not a fancy case, but durable enough for casual storage and local travel.
Hoffee and Calton cases can and often are made to fit the customers given dimensions or a specific manufacturer/model by altering the interior storage and neck and headstock supports. I had a custom Hoffee case built to fit my 23 F4 about eight years ago and was just looking at Calton’s Website before calling Vernie to snag a nice F5 one he had in stock. You might contact the case builder to see if they can do the same with companies like Collins and Northfield. Good luck.

Yeah the Eastman fiberglass case fits my A2Z..... no storage space in those cases. The Mandolin Store usually has one or two in stock. R/
I love hanging out with mandolin nerds . . . . . Thanks peeps ...
I haven't seen an Eastman A style fiberglass mandolin case in years or are we talking about using the F style case?

My 1917 A1 snuggles in an Eastman F quite nicely!

I was hoping they had started bringing in the A style fiberglass case again.

Mine's in a TKL A-style arched case and it fits extremely well, good support.
Blow on, man.
I have a Hiscox Pro II that works for my Black A2
Collings case seems way overkill for almost $1000. I have all my A's and similar shorter neck copies in TKL arched cases. Good solid cases.

My K2 mandocello fits nicely into a Guild dreadnought guitar case.
I've posted this here in the past, but a Reunion Blues Continental Tenor Ukulele bag is affordable and great protection. I've seen them as cheap as $70 recently on Reverb. Salem music has a Reunion Blues bag that might work. I have bought two leather Reunion Blues "A" style bags from them.

Something to consider.

I like the TKL Zero Gravity case a lot, great storage pockets and the mandolin is well protected.

I have a Superior fiberglass case that I bought as a returned item on Amazon and modified the storage box and location of the neck support to fit my Big Muddy, which is a similar size as a Gibson. I use extra padding around the body to keep it from moving around. The Superior case is not very deep and I found it doesn’t work with my F mandolin and a tonegard. The case is light weight, fairly sturdy, and usually available.
I recently purchased a Hiscox case for my 1921 Gibson A. I like the fit, and the seal which has done a great job so far of controlling humidity.
This particular Musician's Friend case works perfectly for my teens Gibson A Oval. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/acce...-mandolin-case
It is on sale for $49 right now. It has gold hardware and is quite protective. It looks basic but is effective in its use.
I have a few of those bought over the years and they are fine for my various vintage flattops and less valuable ones. For my vintage ones and luthier made modern As I prefer the arched cases usually TKL but again the MF cases are amazingly serviceable for a low price.
