So I'm starting to have a hankering for an American mandolin, and I sort of like the idea of an older one.
What do you Stradolin people think about this craigslist offering?

I think it's older than the 50's, somebody stamped what was probably their driver's license number on the back. We all did silly things like that in the late 60's early 70's because police departments said it would be easier to retrieve a stolen item that way. It has the matching pickguard and tailpiece cover that is coveted by so many, I've never seen the stair step end of the fret board but it's cool, it looks original. I'd buy it if it played well and now that you've shared it with thousands of your closest friends you might want to make a quick decision.

Just emailed the guy.
I did! I made a new thread for it, maybe kind of duplicative, if that's a word. The whole story is above - "Is this how it starts?" with pictures.
I really like it. I like how it looks, I like how it plays. I need to have it looked over, though, it's got a few issues.

I will find the other thread! Thanks and enjoy it.
Here is the link
Probably should have figured out to do this at the beginning.
