Default "My Way" for mandolin orchestra (with score)

    "My Way" (Claude François/Jacques Revaux)

My recording of Sinatra's signature song is based on the attached arrangement for mandolin orchestra by an unknown (to me) Japanese arranger, from the Nakano Archive. Parts for two mandolins, mandola (in G), mandocello, double bass and guitar. I'm playing the bass part on second mandocello.

    Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin
    1890s Umberto Ceccherini mandolin
    Mid-Missouri M-111 octave mandolin
    Suzuki MC-815 mandocello (x2)
    Vintage Viaten tenor guitar

I've recorded this mainly out of a morbid sense of curiosity as to how this unlikely choice may sound in a mandolin arrangement. I wouldn't say it's the world's best arrangement, but it is pretty effective and suitably Vegas-like with dramatic dynamics and a loud grandiose crescendo up to the final climax. Fun to play.

My favorite rendition of this song is Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols. He did it his way!

Very nice job, Martin! Fine arrangement and well played.

And thanks for the tip, Doc. But if we're looking for dramatic and grandiose, I don't think anyone tops Nina Hagen on this tune.
