I started on guitar as a kid and picked up the mandolin a few years back. During practice time with my looper pedal, I've been working on different ways to meld mandolin with guitar. A while back my son suggested I record the sessions, which was the initial impetus behind this.
I've tried to keep the focus on playing rather than recording, so these are done with a Zoom H4 in the middle of the room using it's built-in mics. All I do is press record and it gets what it gets.
These are basically rough sketches of ideas with some good and bad. Sharing if anyone else is interested. I switch between an acoustic mandolin, 5-string electric, a double-extended range tenor, P-bass and various Les Paul and Stratocater guitars.
