Source for ivoroid crosspiece and binding?
Since Siminoff is out of business now, having trouble finding a source for the 15th fret crosspiece. I do see a few international suppliers for binding, but I need .090" thick, as well as the crosspiece. If you don't want to offer up your source publicly, a private msg would be appreciated. I see Arches music offers ivoroid but Chris seems to be buried on work and behind schedule.

Bill James is who we buy our ivoroid from (and other binding). He has it up to .75 tall for .090 thick so that will work for the crosspiece.

I glue a few pieces together with acetone when I run out of the pieces ordered from Bill.

I've used .060" for the "crosspiece" for years. Thicker looks too "heavy" to me.
I, too, get my ivoroid from Bill James.

I haven't used ivoroid, but I get the stewmac plastic piece they sell for the guitar end piece and cut it down to size. I think it is the .09x.565 piece, but they don't have a picture now and I'm not near my shop.

It seems Bill is the only place to go, but damn, I can remember when Stew-Mac went from $4 - $5 a piece for the .75 x .090 Ivoroid and thinking ' this stuff's getting expensive !! Still have a box full of different Ivoroid bindings for repair work, but am glad to have switched to 99% wood bindings !! Plus wood doesn't shrink !! :O)~ The re-production market is what's paying the price, literally. You can't / shouldn't buck tradition in some cases. You knew between the hazardous nature of making the stuff, and now that bloated hazmat fee, ivoroid is treading water from a business standpoint.
