    Default Campanella Mandolins--Richmond, Virginia

    Hello folks,
I'm here in Chesterfield, visiting my mother and the old home place, on my way to the Violin Society of America convention in Baltimore. Besides the violins, I'm travelling with a Campanella A5 mandolin and a Due (two-point) mandocello. If any RVA 'cafe members are interested in meeting up while I'm here, PM me and we'll set it up. I'll be leaving Richmond for Baltimore on Thursday morning.
    best,
    Joe

Good music and good folks! It was great to pick tunes and meet some 'cafe members.
I specifically built the A5 I've got, with Sugar Maple, Red Spruce and tone bars, to fit in
and cut through in a big session, with several banjos and guitars, so it was good to test
it there--it's really still just a baby (a few weeks old). The 'cello isn't exactly bluegrass, but can pitch in on the low end if and when there's no bass in that setting.
I'm just here a few days, so I feel lucky to have caught some music in Chesterfield. Virginia is where I grew up and learned to pick, so it's really comfortable to come back and play so many classic songs and tunes. Now on to the classical world at the VSA in Baltimore.
    Cheers,
    Joe

It was great to meet you Joe, and the mandolins/cello sounded great.
