Default Jessica Waltz (Canadian, I think)

This is a traditional Canadian fiddle tune, also sometimes known as "Jessica's Waltz". As far as I can tell, the main source for the tune is the Nova Scotia fiddler Bill Guest, who used to play with Ray Price and with Bill Monroe.

This quartet arrangement is by Alf Warnock, from the repertoire of the Ottawa Fiddle Ensemble at:

I have played it on two mandolins, mandocello and tenor guitar:

    1921 Gibson Ajr mandolin
    Mid-Missouri M-0W mandolin
    Suzuki MC-815 mandocello
    Ozark tenor guitar

    Martin

I had to laugh when I clicked on the link for the tune. The first tune that is at the top of the page is the Lake Dore Waltz. It is an Ottawa Valley fiddle tune by Mac Beattie, which is still quite popular. Lake Dore is about 30km up the road from where I live, and the local radio station plays the Lake Dore waltz quite regularly. It's been a tune I've been wanting to learn for some time. So thanks for the link to some great Ottawa Valley tunes. Cheers!

Nicely played, Martin, and nice arrangement. One can hear that tune quite a bit in this part of the world. 'Love the Canadiana in the video portion!
    Too many instruments...too little time
