New mando player introduction here

First post here. I've been thinking about learning the mandolin for ages and finally pulled the trigger on an inexpensive instrument about a month ago. That initial interest exploded to something of an obsession. Today I picked up an Eastman 305 based on some of the comments on this forum. So, thanks! I'm super psyched with the purchase.

(Small world department: In about 1965 my father bought me my first mandolin for $30 at the now-defunct Tillman Music on East Independence Boulevard (no connection I'm aware of with the current Tillman Music in Rock Hill). Arthur Smith steered us toward Tillman's; my dad steered me toward the $30 price tag.)

Yes, John, very small world. I bought my "inexpensive instrument" at Guitar Center on East Independence Blvd. The Eastman was purchased at Ron's Pickin' Parlor (yes the setup is perfect Blind Bard) and the difference in the two is unbelievable.

Lots of questions to ask so thanks in advance!
