    Default I foresee solidbody electrics...

Should be enough on this chunk of ash to get four one-piece bodies for electric octaves. I'm excited.

Which brings a great question I have, as I have a large chunk of ash like that in my shed, about 3 years old now.

Can you plank-saw the middle of it, then cut it to an instrument profile? The end would look like this: ||||||0||||||

Something tells me that having the pith in the middle of your instrument would be bad? I suppose you could try cutting a chunk on either side, then resawing & bookmatching that, to be more of a quarter sawn piece without the pith?

Flagrantly displaying my ignorance of solid-body construction, here.
