    Default Mandolin Orange cover

A cover of One More Down by M.O.

I did a quick recording to help me learn the song. I'm reading the lyrics as I go and so the timing is off in places as I stumble trying to see over the mic. There are lots of mistakes everywhere but thats expected for me. I might try to re record it after I learn it better but really whats the point. MO does it waaay better so check out the original version.

This is my new Gibson. I'm still tripping a bit on the larger frets but getting used to them more each day.

4 tracks: rhythm guitar, vocals, rhythm mando, lead mando.

I just do these through Garage Band and an Audix OM2 mic (Shure58 clone) and goes through the Apogee duet for interface. The record quality would be better but my headphones broke so I had to play through the monitors as I laid down each successive track so each subsequent track has a little more bleed through than the prior. Oh well, its just for fun and learning.

I second the nice. You're at a distinct disadvantage not having Emily Frantz backing you but you capture the MO vibe pretty well.

I wouldn't re-record it. Let it be a time capsule of where you are today.

    Enjoyed, Mark

Wow...never heard this song before. You do an awesome job on it. Love the raw feeling and emotion you put into it. Well done.

Love this band, and a very nicely done cover. Did you tab it by any chance?

Thanks Doug. I can't say that I do it "right" but I can show you the chord progression I used. As far as any of the mandolin playing, I just made it up as some sort of beginners approximation of some fills that might could work somewhat. I am not skilled enough to figure out or to play what he is actually doing. Just winging it.

Rats, I cant transfer the word doc to this page. It just messes it up. Here is the chord progression:

    Verse
    D F#m G D Bm F#m G G
    Bm F#m G D Bm A D D

    Change up:
    Em Bm G D A
    Em Bm A A7

I like it! I think you have a good singing voice there too. Nicely done. I really like their song Waltz About Whiskey too, I may have to have a go at that one one day.

That is a cool progression. Thx. The first thing I noticed in his songs were the progressions. They sound at a glance like typical I, IV V songs but they're not. One thing that makes them special is the way he weaves the progression. Everything here but the vii?

Sounding good! Did you happen to catch them when they came through Awendaw Green a few years back?

    Hey dp.

No, I didn't , darn it. I do get up to near Asheville occasionally and they play around there a good bit so hope to catch them sometime.

I have been out to AG several Wed pm's for that little shindig. Need to go more but keep forgetting about it.
