Montreal, Canada — The Classical Mandolin Society of America will hold their 22nd annual convention this year in Montreal in cooperation with the host orchestra Mandolinata on October 15-19, 2008 at the Sandman Hotel in Longueuil, Quebec.

The CMSA convention is the largest gathering of classical mandolin players in North America. In addition to performances of classical mandolin music, there are always opportunities to participate in workshops and impromptu jams for many different musical styles.

Early registration for this year's convention is essential as a large response is expected.

Convention highlights include:
* En Masse Orchestra, Carlo Aonzo conducting
* Carlo Aonzo performing with guitarist Rene Izquierdo
* Gala Buffet Banquet
* Tamara Volskaya and Anatolyi Trofimov performing and running Technique Workshops
* Seminars and Workshops, Open Mic Sessions, and Welcome Party (Wed night)
* Joe Brent and More Exciting Performers to be Announced
* 5th Annual Mandolin Instructor's Workshop (Carlo Aonzo)
* 7th Annual CMSA Classical Mandolin Championship
* Mandolin Vendors

Important Note: Because there is no hotel shuttle from the airport and taxis are very expensive (~$C60), our hosts are volunteering shuttle service for $C15, but to be included you must notify Johanna Hebing of your flight arrival ASAP!

CMSA is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. If you can be a volunteer for a few hours or have other questions regarding the convention, please contact Johanna Hebing at (450) 445-9863 or email
