Grass Valley, Calif. – The Mandolin Cafe is proud to sponsor an evening concert and workshops on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, a new event connecting a break between the California Bluegrass Association Music Camp (June 8-11) and Father's Day Festival (June 12-15).
Music camp is over, the festival hasn't begun, so it's open both to music campers staying for the festival, and festival-goers who come in early. Attendance is free with admission to either event.
The evening starts with a performance by Angelica Grim and High Action at 6:00 p.m., following by a John Reischman and Butch Waller mandolin workshop from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Members of Reischman's band The Jaybirds will hold concurrent workshops on their respective instruments, and at 8:00, the Jaybirds will be in concert with special guests Paul Shelasky and Butch Waller performing the music of Bill Monroe.
Sid Lewis of Jamming 101 who will be teaching at CBA's music camp for the first time this year will conclude the evening's activities by leading a jam session. All events will be held at Vern's, Grass Valley's new beer garden stage.
CBA's Music Camp and Father's Day Festival are two of the largest bluegrass events sponsored by the California Bluegrass Association.
