July 1, 2003, Clearwater, FL - Michael Kelly Guitars officially announced plans to sell its products through music retailers for the first time in its history. The company was founded in 1999 with a focus on mandolins and acoustic basses. Michael Kelly has been unique in its direct sales approach, selling all of its products direct to musicians from its web site and by mail order.

"This marks an important milestone in our company's growth", explains company president Tracy Hoeft. "Direct sales have worked really well for us. The direct communication with players has allowed us to improve our product at a highly accelerated rate due to the instant market input from customers. We are really proud of the evolution of our product and the performance of our current line. We feel that the time has come for us to offer our unique range of acoustic products to a wider range of musicians. Offering our products in a carefully selected network of music retailers will allow many more musicians to play and hear our instruments."

Michael Kelly will display at the upcoming NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) trade show in Nashville, TN. At that time they will start to select the dealers and develop their national network. "We are very mindful that excellent customer service and direct communication has been a key to the MK success", elaborates Mr. Hoeft. "We plan to remain directly available to customers and assist them with questions and service. We are also making special efforts to select dealers that understand each of our specific product categories and are committed to great service. Ironically, our direct sales pedigree is already helping us greatly in this area. Each day we hear from many past and future customers telling us what music stores they would like to buy their Michael Kellys from and many stores are calling us at the recommendation of their customers. This unprecedented input from actual musicians in the selection process will allow us to protect our unique focus on service and exceptional products".

The company will continue to sell products directly to musicians through the end of July. Starting in August 1, 2003 all sales will be made through music retailers. The Michael Kelly booth at the Nashville NAMM Summer Session trade show will be #2127. Contact Michael Kelly Guitars at 727-793-0079 or visit their web site at
