Ed Neff - Bluegrass Mandolin

Ed Neff's Bluegrass Mandolin is the title of a new self-produced instructional DVD.

A fixture in the Bay Area bluegrass scene for over 40 years, Neff has played with High Country and the Vern Williams Band with whom he spent 15 years, and many others.

He is well known in the worldwide music community for preserving and interpreting the style of music created by Bill Monroe.

In the DVD, he presents a philosophical discussion of bluegrass mandolin. A unique filming perspective to give the student a clear shot of the fret board. Also covered are back up approaches demonstrated in a band setting.

The three tunes covered in the DVD are Poor Wayfaring Stranger, Virginia Waltz and Paddy on the Turnpike.

Included in the DVD is an image collection of Nugget mandolin #1, owned by the author.
