Dix Bruce's Gypsy Swing Chords, Comping, and Repertoire for Mandolin Workshop

Palo Alto, Calif. — Grypon Stringed Instruments will host a Dix Bruce Gypsy Swing Chords, Comping, and Repertoire for Mandolin Workshop on Saturday, November 3, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

The workshop will explore basic swing mandolin chords, the "Gypsy Swing" chord comp or rhythm on mandolin, and some great Swing & Gypsy Swing standards.

Attendees will learn a variety of movable, closed position chords useful in many styles of swing and jazz, and on getting that swing feel to our rhythm or "comp".

All levels welcome but you should be familiar with major, minor, and seventh chords and be able to read chord diagrams. Sheets with music and chords will be provided. The most important prerequisite is an interest in playing Swing and Gypsy Swing!

Bruce has just published a new book/CD entitled "Gypsy Swing & Hot Club Rhythm for Mandolin" which will be available from Gryphon at the workshop.
