Lincoln, Nebraska, is the scene of some of the nation's best emerging jazz artists this summer in its yearly "Jazz in June" series. Every Tuesday in June, in front of the University of Nebraska's Sheldon Art Gallery, crowds of thousands gather on the shady slopes of the Sculpture Gardens, lawn chairs and blankets in tow, and enjoy the showcase of some incredible prominent talent in this free, corporate-sponsored event.

On Tuesday, June 15th, Jazz in June will feature the John Carlini Quartet, with former David Grisman Quintet Guitarist, John Carlini, and premier Chicago jazz mandolinist, Don Stiernberg. Joining the dynamic duo, Brian Glassman and Philip Grateau on bass and drums.

This is a perfect event for some fabulous outdoor fun, with the adjoining J in J Market cranking up at 5:00, featuring local edibles and produce in an open, "Farmers Market" environment. Get there early to grab a seat, enjoy some local delicacies, toss a frisbee, and then at 7:00, the start of a delicious concert.

The JCQ bring a sensational Chicago/East Coast fresh blend of acoustic jazz. If you've heard their premier CD, "The Games Afoot" and their latest collaboration, "Angel Eyes," then you're well aware of the powerful gestalt of these two individuals.

Get to Lincoln a day early and enjoy the additional activities of the Lincoln Haymarket area and downtown entertainment. This promises to be an amazing concert, worthy of a well-earned midweek break.
