68th National Folk Festival Announces Final List of Performing Groups

68th National Folk Festival has announced their final list of performing groups. NFF is a free, three-day event held October 13-15, 2006, on downtown Richmond, Virginia's riverfront.
Among this year's acts is The Boston Edge, featuring Joe Derrane, Seamus Connolly and John McGann.
The Boston Edge brings together three of America's most renowned Irish musicians, master button accordionist Joe Derrane, fiddle virtuoso Seamus Connolly, and guitar and mandolin player John McGann.
Other artists include: Carlos de Leon - Latin dance, Sonny Burgess & The Legendary Pacers - Rockabilly, New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters - old-time, Jeffrey Scott - Piedmont blues/songster, Hank Sapoznik & the Youngers of Zion - Jewish, Bobby McMillon (Lenoir, NC), Brien Fain (Stuart, VA), Elizabeth LaPrelle (Rural Retreat, VA) - Mountain Songs, Richard Hagopian Ensemble - Armenian, Treme Brass Band - New Orleans parade band, Hula Halau O'Lilinoe - Hawaiian hula kahiko, Mythili Prakash - Bharata Natyam South Indian dance.
"The festival features the very finest traditional artists from cultural communities all over the nation," said Lisa Sims, festival director. "This incredible gathering of musicians really offers something for everyone and I'm sure all who attend will be delighted - and those who don't attend will wish they had."
These artists join The Skatalites - Jamaican ska, The Quebe Sisters Band - Texas fiddling & western swing, Don Vappie & the Creole Jazz Serenaders - New Orleans creole jazz, Kenny & Amanda Smith Band - bluegrass, Yuqin Wang Dragon Art Studio - Chinese rod puppetry, Chuck Brown - go-go, Grace Chang - Chinese guzheng, Willie King & The Liberators - blues, Le Vent du Nord - Quebecois, The Lee Boys - sacred steel, Altai Kai - Throat singing from Altai region, Santiago Jimenez, Jr. - conjunto tejano, Boston Edge - Irish, Warner Williams & Jay Summerour - songsters, Jamesie & The All Stars with Blinky McIntosh - Crucian scratch band music, Lost Bayou Ramblers - Cajun, completing the performer lineup for the 68th National Folk Festival.
Four additional artists being announced today will perform on the Traditional Craft Area stage. These artists are Hazel Dickens - Singer/songwriter from the Coalfields of West Virginia, Buckinghams Lining Bar Gang - track liner songs, Nat Reese - acoustic blues, Northern Neck Chantey Singers - menhaden chanteymen.
