The May Workshops
"One of the hurdles facing mandolinists on the road from memorizing solos to making music," says Star, "is learning how to incorporate rhythm moves into their lead playing. Using a version of the song Shady Grove as a vehicle, this workshop zeroes in on the various strums and extra notes that really glue a solo together."

The July Class
Bluegrass Mandolin Intermediate/Advanced
Bluegrass mandolin revolves around two things: playing instrumentals and creating solos for songs. We will explore both of these elements (in addition to to rhythm playing) with an eye to the subtleties that make one's playing more 'musical', like using vocal accents as a guide and being conscious of the primal rhythm of fiddle music.
