Young Philadelphia mandolinist phenomenon Bryce Milano joins Darol Anger's Republic of Strings for two performances this week, first at the Sellersville Theater, Sellersville, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, and Jammin Java in Vienna, Virginia on Thursday, April 27th, 2006.
The Republic of Strings is the workshop, proving ground, and celebration of Anger's remarkable 30 year musical career. Featuring the pioneering acoustic guitarist Scott Nygaard, The Republic of Strings introduces some of the best young string players in a quartet that delivers Anger's well-known virtuosity, unique sound, and peppery sense of fun.
Along with Milano on mandolin, two additional young players will be featured. On cello, multi-instrumentalist Tristan Clarridge, three time winner of the Grand National Fiddle Championship, and the youngest fiddler ever to win that title. He has spectacularly adapted fiddle technique to the cello and plays a wide range of styles, including jazz, bluegrass, and Celtic music.
On fiddle, Jeremy Kittel, who has performed at hundreds of concerts and festivals over the past five years including the Kennedy Center & A Prairie Home Companion. Jeremy has recently performed with the Turtle Island String Quartet and has received numerous awards, including the National Scottish Fiddle Championship.
