Goshen Old-Time Dancing is pleased to announce that Simon Mayor will present a mandolin workshop on Saturday, November 8, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at the Newcomer Center on the campus of Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana. The workshop will take place the morning after a concert in the same space featuring both Simon and Hilary James.
Simon Mayor is a musician's musician. His playing demonstrates exquisite technique, tone, range of feeling, and the ability to both lead and accompany flawlessly. In addition to mandolin, Simon plays mandola, mandocello, guitar, and violin. His many critically acclaimed solo and ensemble albums cover the genres of classical, Celtic, bluegrass, and children's songs. His line of instructional books and videos for mandolin are highly praised for the quality of their content and user friendly instructional style. Simon will first focus on Celtic music styles before opening up the floor to other content and questions. The workshop will last approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Registration is as follows:
General public - $25
Students - $15.
This is Simon's only mandolin workshop open to the general public for this midwestern portion of the tour of the USA.
