Old School Freight Train - Run
Mandolin master David Grisman is embarking on a unique mini-tour with the Charlottesville, Virginia, based acoustic outfit Old School Freight Train. In support of their Acoustic Disc release Run (out on May 10, 2005), Old School Freight Train will open up a series of dates for Grisman, the creator of "Dawg" music and Acoustic Disc founder, as well as back him up for his set. Grisman produced Run after hearing the band and declaring, "In my forty years of recording acoustic music, it's not very often that a new band catches and keeps my attention. Old School Freight Train has done that and more."
Old School Freight Train combines thought-provoking lyrics with captivating melodies, soulful vocals, virtuosic instrumentals and imaginative arrangements offering a unique musical experience that speaks far beyond their years. The twelve tracks on Run span a broad spectrum of contemporary styles. Along with their original songs are fresh interpretations of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" and Randy Newman's "Louisiana 1927."
Grisman and Old School Freight Train will be pulling into Town Hall in New York City on May 18, followed by stops in Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco, Reno and Flagstaff.
