2005 Mandolin Symposium

2005 Mandolin Symposium

This Year the Mandolin Symposium is proud to present the wonderful carved top Mandolin and Guitar Builder, John Monteleone to our Teaching Staff to teach a Masters Builders class on Carved top Mandolin Building. This class is designed for experienced builders to work on a project together under the guidance of John Monteleone and Dan Roberts from Santa Cruz Guitars.

We have created a shop environment for the Builders class and all participants must posses some Instrument building skills and bring their own hand tools. By arrangement we may be able to supply some tools. Builders are expected to bring a project to work on, preferably a top and back that is in the early stages of carving to spend their time working and developing during the week. We are also looking into a source for a supply of materials that would suit our needs as well.

This class will be limited to 10 students and we need a minimum of 6 students registered in order to be able to offer this class. A decision will be made by the middle of May if we are able to offer this class. All builders will attend the music appreciation class each morning. They will then go as a group to the mandolin builders shop, on campus.
