Rockville, Md. — Emory Lester, one of North America's best mandolin players will lead a mandolin workshop from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Patuxent Studios, 409 N. Stonestreet Ave.

One of the foremost exponents of the acoustic mandolin, Emory has profoundly influenced the progress of current mandolin styles, with a long and rewarding career as a performer and instructor.

A four-time instructor at the prestigious Steve Kaufman Acoustic Kamp, Emory has taught workshops and individual lessons for all levels since 1978, spanning the U.S. and Canada, and the U.K.

He has performed with the very best in the music, such as Babik Reinhardt (the late son of Django), Bill Emerson, Tony Rice, William Ellwood, Del McCoury, Tony Trischka, and many more.

Space is limited and advance reservations are strongly recommended as an early sell-out is expected. Cost of the workshop is $50 cash or check.

Some of the topics that will be covered by Emory at this mandolin workshop will be:

Technique (right and left hand)
Chords & Rhythms
Finding Melodies
Tips & Tricks
