    Default Curly Strings

Hi folks...I just wanted to direct your attention to an up and coming Estonian string band, Curly Strings, who recently released a lovely and joyful video: Curly Strings "Maailm heliseb".

The band has obvious influences from modern American old-time and string band music and technique (song structure, fiddle/mandolin chop etc.) but is firmly rooted in traditional Estonian music. Eeva and Villu Talsi, fiddle and mandolin, and a married couple, came to me several years ago and asked me to build them matched instruments. I delivered the fiddle and mandolin approximately one year ago, and have been extremely impressed with the material that they are producing. You can also like them on Facebook.

One more great song, from a few months ago: Curly Strings "Üle ilma". There are some more videos, including live cuts at Youtube.
This is definitely a band to watch, as they hone their already mature sound--hopefully we'll see a US tour sometime in the future.
    Enjoy!!!

I wondered if anyone had posted about Curly Strings--of course someone had. Just discovered them myself and though this thread could use an update. http://www.curlystrings.ee The band's website has some videos and other interesting information, including quotes from Mike Marshall and Casey Driessen. Speaking of Casey, he has duet album out with the fiddle player/singer: http://https://www.amazon.com/Eeva-T.../dp/B01LTHZQ7E
