Hi Forum,
Usually I've used D'Addario J64 light gauge strings on my flat top mandolin, but lately I got into an expiremental mood and tried out a pack of Martin 80/20 Bronze strings (.010-.034) light strings. The idea behind this was that Martin actually build flat top mandolins once and my mandolin... well is a flat top.
Now why I ask for opinions is, the sound of those strings is completely different and I mean it. They seem to have a bit clearer pitch, yet they produce a long sustaining tone. It seems like the tone is kept a lot longer and I believe I get more tone out of my small mandolin here.
The questions I want to add to this is: What impact do different strings have even though they have the same thickness and are made out of the exact same material (the D'Addario strings I used had the same thickness obviously) ?
Does anybody on this forum ever tried the Martin strings?
Thanks in advance for any answer.

Greets,
Roin
