    Default Two part thread-

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of checking out a small guitar store up in Mt.Pleasant that I originally did not know existed. It is a long drive to Mt.Pleasant often, so I don't go often. Usually there is nothing to do at all while there, and yesterday my dad pointed this place out. I walk in and browse about for a while, and come across two things.

    1. The first Weber mandolin I have ever played. I saw the scroll and recognized it as a Weber immediately. I started to fiddle around with it, and I enjoyed playing it very much. It was the Gallatin F-style (http://www.sprucetreemusic.com/weber.html) and it sounded and played well. I have no idea how to actually play mandolin, so I did some upside-down guitar chord shapes and tried to see what I could do from there. It was pretty fun.

    2. I came across this odd ball guitar here:

Anyone ever see one of these? To my understanding, it is played with a slide. Whatever else it does, I don't know. I can't find any information on it, or a video of someone playing it.
EDIT: Nevermind, I apparently did not look at the sign. I found a video of someone playing one of these. I really have no idea how.

I think this video does a better job of showing off the instrument:

If anybody wants one for themselves I'm betting you can find 'em here:

Not a patch on this guy...

I kind of feel like someone should tell him it's not actually a real instrument, but I'd hate to be the one to have to break it to him.

About time someone remembered this was a mandolin forum.

I have no idea, really. I still want to have their Gallatin Mandocello, and that mandolin was a third of the price of one. While I loved it more than any mandolin I have ever played (for its looks, feel, and sound), I still wish to save up. But it was an awesome little instrument to mess around with. I didn't even try the other mandolins.
