Default Mandolin Christmas in August way too enthusiastic?

When is enthusiasm too much? Perhaps when Christmas begins in August when a mandolin player starts practicing good old Christmas songs:
"And so it's Christmas" John Lennon Yoko Ono
Something about Christmas time" Brian Adams
Some songs by the Beatles and the good old Christmas songs like "Silent Night"

Well, nothing wrong with being prepared is there?

    So Who's up for practicing?

    Happy playing

    Jbovier a5 2013;
    Crafter M70E acoustic mandolin
    Jbovier F5 mandola 2016

That's funny, because I actually was just dusting off "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" last night. It falls pretty nicely in the first position in A minor, with two octaves available within the first five frets.

    Hi Marty

Thank heavens - it's not just me then? Anyhow what's wrong with being prepared? Happy practising.

I must say that at present "So it's Christmas the War is Over" has the pesky B minor chord which I contemplate thoroughly when moving from A major. That is of course playing chords and strumming. Need to work on a riff of melody!

So best with "God rest ye merry Gentlemen".

I am still practising on my Crafter, but my Jbovier paid for and I await with anticipation!

My jam group unabashedly played "Away in a Manger" in the coffee shop, in July. It felt weird (there were listening patrons) and wonderful. Nice to play and sing such sweet songs out of their season.
One thing about them is if you grew up singing them, you know them better than most other tunes! And, now that I am studying music theory and chord structure with my teacher, I will be noticing why those carols and tunes are so sweet.

Are you strumming and singing or playing instrumentals?

Hmmm... and I've been working up a melody/chord version of O Holy Night on octave mando.
