Thread: Higher up

    Default Higher up

Hey been playing for a little over six months now. I am starting to use the higher frets on my mandolin. I am having trouble getting past the buzz once i reach the 11th (13 is how high i am trying to go) any tips or is it just unavoidable at that high?
    Thanks lots

Check your set up, frets may be loose, truss rod may need slight adjustment, old strings, too low action... A lot of things could be causing this, and the majority of them are fixable by a trained mando technician (or if you are a tinkerer you could attempt some of them, with care, yourself.) I regularly play up to my mandolin's 20th fret with no buzz (that I've noticed anyways), so it is avoidable.
    Hope this helps
