How do these mandos compare to the MK's, Kentucky 675's of the world - are they closer to the Eastman's , or just another tinny import.

KB as I understand it they are just another import. They are sold by Josh Pinkham's dad I think exclusively.I have played one that was exceptional.Of course it had been properly setup. You thing about buying one? Lp

I had to sell all my instruments to help finance my daughters wedding ( bless me ) so I'm mandoless , I know
I could trade my Doc Watson for a good mando , but I'm still called in question. Seeing how I've owned quite a few good mandolins in the past , I don't think i could settle for one with bad tone.

Keith have you considered an Eastman 515 or 615 F5?They are outstanding.Artistically made with excellent woods. The tone and volume are excellent and they are easy players. The 515 would not hurt your pocket-book too bad either.Plus you will have no trouble selling at a later date. Lp

They don't sound better than Morgan Monroes or Kentuckys, but they are made by elves!
Yeah and right next to the little guys that make the cookies!!! Lp

I talked to one of Josh Pinkham's family members about the mandos when I was at Merlefest last year. They told me that they're PacRim origin, but supposedly Josh's Dad has influence over construction, quality. One thing mentioned was thinner carved tops for better sound.
I played them, they seemed pretty nice, but I didn't notice much difference over Kentuckys.
My buddy has one, and he likes it a lot!
