Default Funny Quotes from Your Favorite Mandolin Players

    Hey Everyone,
Just wondering what are some of the funniest things your mandolin idols have said on or off stage.
    One of my favorites is:
"Jerusalem Ridge is literally the 'Call Me Maybe' of folk songs right now"
This is found within the hilarious intro of this video (Warning: My sense of humor has been considered to be very awful):

Norman Blake, standing barefoot in Randy Wood's yard in Georgia, eating a peanut butter sandwich, as I was about to drive away, told me:

Actually it's pretty much a world wide phenomena but look at the number of people doing videos of this song here.

...a long time ago when dinosaurs ruled the earth { 1969 }...Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Bluegrass festival ....me sitting in a car with Bobby Osborne...and since I am a child of the Blueridge Mtns., I had access to non taxed paid whiskey, of which at that time Bobby was very fond of....he was a friend of our manager { we were all teen-age boys that had our own band, and got to play on that festival }...I had taken my mandolin out of it's case and put a quart Mason jar in it full of the elixer...I'm sitting in the car with Bobby, and he says: " well son, what kind of mandolin you got for me to see, a white'un ? "....he had just screwed the lid back on and put it under the seat as I sat there with my case, when a MB police tapped on the window on Bobby's side of the car, Bobby told him " the winders busted and it can't be rolled down ", " I was just checking out this boy's mandolin "..the policeman walked away...close call for Mr. Osborne....at another time he did look over my mandolin and after messing with it about an hour, re-adjusting the bridge, raising, lowering, told me " son, you need to get you a new mandolin "....I'll remember that for as long as I live as at that time our band did a lot of the Osborne Brothers songs...we had a good band and did ok for boys 13-16 years old, won a bunch of 1st place fiddler's conventions in N.C., Va. & S.C. and we had our band when we were all going to the same high school during 1969-1971...two of my band mates were Lou Reid and Jim Haley, two of the original Quicksilver members that played with Doyle Lawson....I remember other things that I heard during those years and afterwards playing at festivals, but as far as mandolin, something that was said directly to me...by none other than Bobby Osborne, that one stands out.

Oh haha... It's this extremely popular pop song that honestly in my opinion, should not be considered music. The joke Thile was making was that Jerusalem Ridge is overplayed by everyone. I find this funny myself because that was the first tune I learned on mandolin. To save your ears, I would not recommend listening to "call me maybe". It will leave you feeling like you have lost a bit of intelligence. But I also don't like most "mainstream" music. Others on the forum here may like the song but I highly doubt it considering the demographics of the site.
