Here is one of the few times my son and I played together:
Not real polished, but a lot of fun.

With all that moving around I would have a hard time being heard thru my mic! Must be a pretty sensitive condensor mic being used.
[QUOTE=shortymack;1161002]At least you said almost always......
Great performance!
Also the performance of the previous post is excellent, although it is a different genre of music!
I know perfectly well that the mandolin is an instrument noble and that in some cases can be self-sufficient (as well demonstrated here ...). I did not mean to belittle the mandolin! I love the mandolin and many times I've played this wonderful musical instrument ... however there is no denying that instruments like piano, guitar, harp ... are more "complete" from the point of view of polyphony. The violin itself can play alone (think of the sonatas by Bach), but it is difficult to listen to concerts for solo violin ...
The mandolin, to hold the polyphony, must resort to special techniques. The effect is much appreciated and also nice but certainly other instruments are more likely in the development of polyphony. . In any case, I apologize if I offended anyone ... the music has no boundaries and all musical instruments are wonderful! Here's the video of my recent performance with greek bouzouki. This is my arrangement of "Zorba the Greek"
P.S. I'm sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand what I mean ...
To the gentleman who plays guitar - you will find this a very fine and wonderful group here on the Mandolin cafe. I started as a very unknowledgeable mandolin beginner though there was always room. So we live and let live and I love the guitar and the contribution it makes - so feel welcome to send your music and posts!

I am sure no one is offended. I think we all know the capacity of the mandolin and that each musical instrument makes a beautiful and unique contribution as we dance, play and glide across boundaries.
Happy playing and remember let the music take you!
Vanillamandolin (by the way I said I was a very unknowledgeable beginner" Still the beginner, a little more knowledge thanks to the cafe.

[QUOTE=mandoguitar;1161025]Greetings Mr. Torrisi,
I greatly enjoy your posts. Your music always puts a smile on my face and improves my day. What greater purpose can there be for music? Just look at the fact that those listening and posting here are separated by great oceans and continents, yet we all are sharing in the joy of your music. I thank you for this. I hope you will continue to post your beautiful music every chance you get.
Thanks and best wishes, Bob

Try whistling and chewing a cigar...
I would like to see "Angel Eyes" whistling, chewing a cigar and playing his Mando!...........but maybe that would be too scary for the younger members of the Forum.
I have been chewing a cigar and watching Lena Leclair playing the Legend of Zenda medley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJrQDe_mBHA wow!
That's the thing about the Forum.I think i'll just check my mail and see what's going on at the Forum, before getting ready for tonight's soiree. Two hours later!!!
