Default Do you have a Skaggs Gibson RS-DMM F5 ?

It has been about a year since the last post on the Gibson list of the newer Master Models and the DMM and RS-DMM models. I noticed that the Skaggs models were limited to 30 and the last number posted was No. 27 yet out of the 30 only 6 have been listed on this list:
    http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/sh...ter+Model+list
That's quite a few missing like Nos. 1 to 3 and No. 6, No. 8 and a big gap from No. 10 to 18 and another big gap from 20 to 26.
Any owners want to fess up to having (or did have and sold) one of these beauties so it can be put onto the list for the history of these mandolins?

Interesting to see the number up to 40 now. It would be nice if the kind folks at The Mandolin Store would post here that particular RSDMM number. I would also like to hear some feedback about these RSDMM current owners. I played two of them some years ago at the Gibson Mall Store but had forgotten about the Ivory Nut, the Speed neck, and the Tone Guard. Not sure why the tone guard comes with them (a Ricky special?) but I don't need anything that will give me more "speed" than I have now. I've been told most of my pickin' life I'm too fast. How about a "slow down" neck?

I had a chance to play one that Dave Harvey brought up to a mandolin expo at my house....from 20 feet away I couldn't tell it from the Loar that I owned for 25 years.......it had just the right amount of "beat up" and it played really well.....very nice vibe to that one.....I think it was #26 if I remember correctly.....I also remember one being sold out of Cincinatti on the Cafe around 2 years ago in that 13k price range....

ps ....playing too fast.......my problem has always been playing half fast.......or something like that

So does anyone know if they are still making them???

They are not on the Janet Davis site or the Mandolin Store site or the Guitar Center site

Since I haven't heard anything about whether they are still making these I decided to go to the source. Sent Gibson an email from the web site and received the following

    "Hi,

Thanks for the email. Unfortunately, this model has been discontinued and is no longer in production. Sorry for the inconvenience.
